A park Jayme and Paul visited May 10th

The Thames Barrier Park is in the east end of London, past the Docklands. It was built in 2000 on the south bank beside the Thames Barrier, which is designed to stop tidal surges from inundating London.

The trench down the middle of the parm is meant to recall the docks of this area's past. There are no commercial docks left in London.

The pavilion

The seats in the memorial shelter mimic the shapes of the hedges in the trench, although I think there should be a few more.

The Thames Barrier and tidal flats

a sort of modern version of the "ha-ha"

The park viewed from the communter rail station at its northern end.

Final Dinner

The Britannia -- a nice "gastro pub" on a quiet street near our hotel
